How endorsements work
Members can give a thumbs up to businesses they have worked with. Each member can only leave one endorsement per business, ensuring every recommendation is meaningful and deliberate.
Business owners cannot endorse their own business. When a member leaves an endorsement, they must specify their relationship (such as a client, vendor, or partner) and when they worked together.
Coppla reviews endorsements for authenticity. False endorsements are removed to maintain the integrity of our community.
The Recommended badge
The Recommended badge is awarded to businesses that have earned strong, genuine endorsement from the community.
Calculated automatically every night, not chosen by Coppla staff. To qualify, a business must:
- Have at least 5 endorsements
- Have an endorsement count above the average of all qualifying businesses
- Have no active unresolved complaints
The threshold adjusts as the community grows so the badge stays meaningful, and we trim outliers from the average so a few wildly-endorsed businesses do not raise the bar for everyone else.
Reporting concerns
Coppla wants the directory to be a community of trustworthy professionals. Members can report a concern about any business through a private channel. These reports go directly to Coppla admins and are never shown publicly.
Coppla reviews each report, and where appropriate, gives the business a chance to respond privately. Safety concerns are handled differently and the business may not be notified depending on the situation.
Patterns of concerns can result in removal from the Recommended badge or removal from the directory entirely. This system is intentionally low-key. We do not encourage casual complaints. It exists for genuine concerns.
Why we built it this way
Endorsements are not a star rating. The badge is not pay-to-play. Complaints are not a public review system.
